Lisa Pubantz

I was born with a physical disability known as spina bifida and have been a lifelong advocate for the disability community in my hometown of Winston-Salem, NC and throughout the state of North Carolina. I have committed my life to advocating for people with disabilities through various disability-related organizations such as the March of Dimes Birth Defects Foundation, the Spina Bifida Association of the Carolinas, and Camp Carefree. I became a traumatic brain injury survivor after suffering a concussion while playing wheelchair basketball in October of 2011. Since then, I have added traumatic brain injury advocacy to my list of things I’m passionate about. For the past few years, I have taken on acrylic painting as a hobby and I use my art as a way to bring representation of people with disabilities into my local arts community.
