Meet Amanda Allemang, Board Member
Amanda Allemang
Professional Experience:
Amanda Allemang has been actively involved with the Brain Injury Association of Pennsylvania (BIAPA) since 2011. Her contributions include volunteering on the Brain Injury Resource Line, offering compassionate support and guidance to survivors, professionals, and families across the state. Amanda has also supported BIAPA’s fundraising board and currently facilitates a thriving brain injury support group, Lost and Found, which meets at West Penn Hospital in Pittsburgh. Her group uniquely fosters community by offering a “survivors night out” approach—creating a space for survivors and their families to meaningfully engage with one another while navigating their “new normal.”
Relationship with Brain Injury:
Amanda is a brain injury survivor. She sustained a traumatic brain injury in 2007 as a pedestrian struck by a drunk driver, resulting in a frontal lobe injury. Following a seven-day coma and intensive rehabilitation, she and her mother were abruptly thrust into the complex world of brain injury recovery with limited guidance. Through her journey with BIAPA, she found connection and inspiration—particularly through the work of Hope Survives’ founder, Cristabelle Braden, whose story and encouragement have continually motivated Amanda to uplift others.
Passion for the Mission of Hope Survives:
Amanda is deeply committed to advocacy and support for brain injury survivors and their families. She champions accessible education, resources, and a compassionate community that ensures no one walks this journey alone.
