Leanne Bier

Professional Experience:

Leanne Bier brings over 30 years of teaching experience to our Board. She specializes in literacy and professional development. She earned her Doctor of Education degree from the University of Delaware. Throughout her career Leanne has been a Title I Reading Specialist, college professor, professional development leader, kindergarten teacher, and support professional for fellow teachers. While teaching is her passion, she has come to learn that instruction takes place in all aspects of life, not just the classroom. Leanne believes the world around her is her classroom in which she both teaches and learns every day.

Relationship with Brain Injury:

Leanne has been exposed to family members with various forms of brain injury throughout her life. She has an uncle that has been cognitively challenged since birth. Her father developed Parkinson’s disease in 2016. Her mother developed interstitial lung disease in 2019. Leanne was present and assisted both of her parents as their diseases progressed. She helped them navigate the world as they mentally and physically faced the changes to their daily lives. Her father succumbed to Parkinson’s disease in 2020. Her mother passed away in 2021. Today, Leanne continues to serve as the primary source of financial, emotional, physical, and medical support for her uncle.

Passion for the Mission of Hope Survives:

Leanne has a deep understanding of the concept that Brain Injury can happen for multiple reasons and affect more than just the patient. She has learned the importance of care, understanding, and patience when dealing with individuals suffering from Brain Injury and believes that Hope Survives is a valuable resource for everyone involved with a brain injury. Leanne knows that many of the struggles people face are unseen by the world, making their suffering even more difficult. She desires to be a positive influence in people’s lives and relies upon her deep faith in God to sustain her. She is actively involved in the daily working of her church and trusts that all Hope lies in the Lord, Jesus Christ as her Savior.
