Upward Over the Mountain
This collage represents the resilience of the human spirit in the face of tragedy and sudden change. I incorporated a rock climbing figure to symbolize brain injury survivors on their journey to peace and healing, climbing their own individual “mountains” on their trails of life. Despite brain injury recovery being largely felt in our inner world, it truly is something massive and intense that seems impossible to hold. Not only are our thoughts and physical states affected, we are also summiting a transformation. One that we didn’t anticipate. This piece reflects the bravery of climbing our mountains. I made this piece in brain injury recovery. I look at it to remind myself of how far I’ve come, and that I’m not alone. We’re all summiting different peaks, but peaks all the same.
