Robin Luftig - Brain Injury Survivor
Can you share about the brain injury event itself?
Seizure on April 1, 2011, surgery on April 11, 2011
What kind of rehabilitation therapies or treatment have been most helpful through the process of recovery?
Speech, Physical, and Occupational therapies
What have been some of the biggest challenges you or your loved one has faced during recovery?
I dealt with fatigue, loss of memory, and loss of coordination. Not being who I wanted to be.
How has your life changed since the brain injury?
Blessed beyond belief!
Have there been any moments of breakthrough or unexpected positives along the way?
I had a first-hand account of when you seek God to beg him to pull close, he pulls closer than a brother
What has surprised you about this journey with brain injury?
Getting frustrated with God is okay.
What do you know now that you wish you knew at the beginning of this journey?
The promise that comes with tomorrow.
What does "hope" mean to you?
Everything. Without hope, we are floating in this void of our imagination only to be thinking about the worst outcomes possible. However, when we have hope, our whole outlook and mindset shift to being more positive.
If you could share one encouraging message with another survivor or family, what would it be?
We never leave the palm of God's hand. While our journey may not be what we thought it'd be, and we may not be happy with where we are at times, we can know God's plan for us is better than anything we could ever imagine.
