Dr. Alicia Britt Chole

It’s unnerving, isn’t it? When our faith feels ungrounded, untethered . . . unreal. When our certainty is adrift, as though an undercurrent has pulled us away from shore into the deep, into the darkness.

This is disillusionment.
This is spiritual pain.
This is losing hope.

And if this is you―if you’re in a dark night of the soul―please know that you are not alone. (And you are not as far away from safety as you may feel or fear.) Though faith shines best in full sun, it grows depth in the dark.

In The Night Is Normal, revered author, speaker, and mentor Dr. Alicia Britt Chole offers a groundbreaking perspective that reveals spiritual disillusionment as an unexpected friend.

Our reality is broken, but God has not changed. Whether you’re disillusioned with God, yourself, or others, Alicia offers practical and soul-full tools to help you navigate the night and find your way to a livable and love-saturated hope.

Your night will not last forever.
Within it, there is priceless treasure that’s simply too weighty to be sourced in sunshine.

Dr. Alicia Britt Chole is an award-winning author and international speaker. Alicia focuses on less than trendy topics like spiritual pain, the leader’s soul, the potential of anonymous years, decrease as a discipline, and the abuse of authority. Business leaders, pastors, college students, and churches agree: Alicia is an unusually disarming combination of realism and hope, intellect and grace, humor and art.

Her messages have been featured on DayStar, TBN, Propel, Christianity Today, Guideposts, Faith Gateway, and Chicken Soup for the Soul. A skillful mentor and speaker and an award-winning writer, Dr. ABC holds a doctorate in leadership and spiritual formation from George Fox Seminary and serves as the founding director of Leadership Investment Intensives, a nonprofit devoted to providing customized soul care for leaders in business and ministry. Along with her husband, Dr. Barry Jay Chole, and their three children (all Choles through the miracle of adoption), Alicia lives in the Ozark countryside and enjoys thunderstorms, jalapenos, pickleball, honest questions, and pianos in empty rooms.

Alicia’s books include Anonymous: Jesus’ Hidden Years and Yours, 40 Days of Decrease: A Different Kind of Hunger, A Different Kind of FastThe Sacred Slow: A Holy Departure from Fast Faith, and The Night is Normal: A Guide Through Spiritual Pain.
